With fond memories of Dear Ellen, and our online friendship  of 14 years.  I bought lots of postcards from her, and valued all of her knowledge and advice.  Always as "bright as a button" , and a great correspondent.  I laugh when I think of the times she "pipped me at the post"  on ebay! I knew it was her, but I never told her !  I am proud to have known her,  and to have learnt from her concerning deltiology.  Bless your eternal soul Ellen .   Winifred

Ellen and I corresponded regularly over many years. Of course, postcards was the main topic, but we shared our thoughts on many subjects. She was one of those people about whom one can say that knowing her enriched my life. She will be sadly missed.

When I started on ebay Ellen was the  first person with whom I wrote about our passion for postcards. I will miss her friendly emails.she will be in my memory for ever. God bless her.

My love and heartfelt prayers to all of Ellen's family. I AM SO GRATEFUL for the correspondence shared between us. I recently held a card making activity and brought the Clapsaddle illustrated reference guide compiled by Ellen & her husband George. She wrote "hope this brings you many happy hours". It is a joy to share the old fashioned sentiments of the postcard and greeting card world and knowing and learning from Ellen Budd, such a kind and thoughtful unforgettable woman, will always be a treasured memory near and dear to my heart and soul. I was thinking of Ellen tonight and went online to find she just died last month.  I am so very sorry and send my deepest sympathy to her family.

Ellen and I corresponded for many years. As a devotee of Clapsaddle and her work, I bought many cards from Ellen.  She became my main  source of quality greetings and a friend.  

My collection was built because of her advice and loyalty. I "subscribed" to an approval service and looked forward to my mail.

I remember when George died - a very hard time for her - we talked by phone had some deep conversations.

She was a dear person and I will always remember her.  May God bless her forever.

I am very saddened to hear of Ellen's passing.  Like so many others, I met her through her deltiology.  I was at a postcard shown St. Louis and one of the dealers there told me about Ellen.  When I returned home I looked her up and contacted her.  I did not have the honor to meet her face to face, but we did speak on the phone several times and communicated via email.  She was sweet, warm and sincere, I immediately felt as though we had been friends for a lifetime.  I've not met many people who have touched me so quickly and deeply.  Ellen was a very special person, I will think of her often and miss shopping at her store.

I will pray that fond memories of her specialness will help comfort her entire family during this difficult time.

I have known Ellen for nearly 30 years, although we never met.  We shared a love of deltiology, of which she knew more than any person I met.  I first came across her auctions in The Postcard Collector around 1990.  Each month, she would write these detailed descriptions about each card up for auction and each month I would bid on the cards.  I saved every one of her auctions and refer to them to this day.  She shaped my collection, my interest, my appreciation of antique postcards like no one else.  I bought thousand of cards from her over the years, which I went through page by page today upon hearing of her death.

We became "friends" in 2001 , though.  I lived and worked in New York City at the time and she became afraid that I was hurt in 9-11.  The phones were spotty for a few days after and she was quite frantic that I or my husband were hurt.  When she finally reached me, she was so relieved.  We talked for over an hour about our families, our histories, our work, and, of course our cats.  We always talked about Boo, her beloved cat, who became a selling feature of her home she recently sold.  She loved that cat!  We shared a passion for cats, too. She loved stories about my three.

Ellen had much we could always talk about.  She had lived in New York and moved to the Midwest.  I grew up in the Midwest and moved to NYC.  Yes, there were many connections, enough  to hold and cherish  for a lifetime.  I will do just that!  
My condolences to her family for their loss and gratitude to  her daughter, Karen ,who helped us stay connected these last months and who took such extraordinary care of her these past few months.  Thank you for sharing your mother with me.  May you find peace and comfort  in my memories of her.
