I grew up in Sharonville, I remember our Mayor and his family. It was a wonderful time in my life and may God Bless the Dowlin Family. Cherish the memories and remember to never forget where you came from. Always respect & love each other like your father did.

I knew you back in the day at Princeton High School and know how proud you were of your father. And I know you're even more proud now. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Dowlin Family,
As a former friend and neighbor of the Dowlin family while I was growing up, I am saddened by the passing of this wonderful man and hope that his family finds solice in the great works he did.

John was an intelligent, moral and compassionate man who was head and shoulders above most other politicians.  He supported programs in Hamilton County for the chronically ill and second chance programs for those with drug and alcohol addictions.
At a time when the country seems so concerned with fiscal responsibility, John's record could serve as a model for action.  He repeatedly took tough stands for the people of Hamilton County even if it made him politically unpopular for a time. He was an honest man who seemed bigger than those around him and he will be greatly missed.

To all the Dowlins, 
I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Dowlin's death - my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.  He was a great man and will always hold a special place in my memories of growing up on Chappy - I will always remember his wonderful voice, laugh and twinkling eyes.  In addition to PRINGLES :)

I want to extend my sincere condolences.  John was always so kind to me and my family especially my father, Ed Overbey.  John was a true saint and his life was an example of kindness and service.  His life made a big difference in our community.  I think of him each Sunday in our church and every time I visit our Sharonville branch of the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library.

Mrs. Dowlin and Family,

My sincerest condolonces on the loss of Mr. Dowlin.  I knew him fondly as the Mayor of Sharonville where my father was a police officer.  Growing up, every time Mr. Dowlin saw me and my family, he was sincere in asking about our lives and activites.  He always made us feel as though he really cared about us.
I pray you find peace and smiles in the wonderful memories you have of him.

John Dowlin was a fine friend and both an honorable and outstanding leader in our community. I shall pray for the repose of his soul and for his family.

John Dowlin and his family were always an inspiration to me. He was a man of high integrity, honesty and character. I learned so much about community service through him. My prayers are with Sally and the family.

Like the dash poem says, the little dash in the middle says more than the date of birth or date of death.  It contains all that makes up a persons life and who they were.  In John's dash is a lot of respect from a whole lot of people who knew him.  God Bless you and your family at this difficult time.

I was saddend to hear about your loss.  I worked with John for several years at Procter & Gamble.  He also officiated at my wedding. Bud and I just celebratd our 22nd anniversary on July 8th and talked about John then.  He will always be in our memories.  God Bless.

To Sally and Dowlin family,

There have been very few people in my life that have had more influence on me than John -- and I'm certain I'm not alone.  He touched so many lives while sacrificing his time, your time and your family's time to serve the public in ways immeasurable.  Knowing this day would eventually come doesn't make it any easier to accept that a great man has passed from our presence.  I receive comfort knowing confidently that he is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior.  He was indeed a good and faithful servant.  God Bless you and your family in this time of sorrow, and forevermore.

I only had the privilege to meet Mr. Dowlin one time while he was mayor of Sharonville and I was very impressed by him as a caring person. My biggest attribute to Mr. Dowlin was in being able to share the school bus back in High School with his daughter Betsy. Betsy in my opinion must have gotten her personality and pleasant demeanor from her dad and was able to pass it on to all she met. May the Good Lord be with everyone in your loss.

I knew John's death was imminent, but I still feel a true sense of loss knowing he has died.  He was a great man.

Dear Sally, John Jr. and the entire Dowlin Family. I had the privelege of working with John as a department head in the City of Sharonville. He was a gracious and honorable man. As with the passing of men like John, I feel an entire era is also passing which is very sad. I hope that all of you will find his legacy of extensive public service as a true comfort in the months and years to come. He made this world a better place and put the gentle in gentleman.

I had the honor of working with Commissioner Dowlin while he was a Board member and President of OKI. He was great to work with and is greatly missed by all. May God Bless the Dowlin Family.

Commissioner John S. Dowlin was a very special gentleman.  We were pleased to have worked at Hamilton County with him.  May God bless you and your family.

Sorry to see that John has left us.  He was a trusted friend who I met and worked with at P&G and later as members of the Cincinnatus Association.
