

Robert S. age 89, departed from this world on May 2, 2016, to rejoin Virginia, his beloved wife and best friend for 59 years, who had preceded him in passing in March 2011. Robert was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on July 1, 1926. Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to the Navy V12 Officer Training Program at the University of Rochester where he earned a commission and then served briefly until the end of WWII. Returning to the University of Rochester, he also earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and upon graduation, was employed by the General Electric Co., and was assigned to the Aircraft Gas Turbine Division in Lynn, Massachusetts. It was here that he and Virginia met and eventually married. About one year later, he was recalled for another tour of duty in the Navy during the Korean War. Upon release from the Navy, he returned to General Electric to work at the Aircraft Gas Turbine facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. During his employment with General Electric, Robert served as a test facility design engineer for 30 years, and as a Project Manager in the Marine and Industrial Gas Turbine Division for 14 years for a total of 44 years. Robert retired in 1991 and remained in Cincinnati where he and Virginia had a pleasant and very happy retirement. Visitation 9-9:45 A.M.
