

Betty was born October 23, 1930 in Sheboygan to John and Alvina (Schultz) Roerdink.
She graduated from high school, Class of 1949.
On July 2, 1966 Betty and Edward E. Lutz were united in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death December 27, 2001.
After high school she worked at J.J. Koepsell as a switchboard operator, Polar Ware Co. as a payroll clerk and most notably at Trilling True Value Hardware as a cashier.
In her younger years, Betty loved to volunteer; she helped the Red Cross, taught Sunday School, worked in the school health room and was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed reading and babysitting her grandchildren and grand-dogs. Betty loved her special luncheons with her friends and family.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Rose Lee (Jay) Eissner and Sue (Tracy) Black, both of Sheboygan; grandchildren, Jordan and Gabriele Eissner, Courtney, Samantha, and Joseph Black; a brother, Fred (Dorothy) Roerdink; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Roerdink and Carol Roerdink; many wonderful nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Roerdink, Carlos Roerdink and Doug Roerdink; sister-in-law, Dee Dee Roerdink; nephew Al Roerdink.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Betty’s name for St. Luke United Methodist Church and the Sheboygan Humane Society.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 623 Ontario Avenue, Sheboygan, WI 53081. Rev. Ric Olson and Rev. Kathy Reid will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the time of service.
There are no words to express our gratitude to Dr. Michael Johnson, the fifth floor nursing staff at St. Nicholas Hospital, St. Nicholas Hospital Dialysis Unit, and all of the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. You have all been special angels to our family.
Betty will always be remembered as a people person who connected with everyone. Her smile and bright eyes will be missed.
