Emma Miller

Emma was born Septemember 13, 1919 in Sheboygan to Cornelius and Elizabeth (Kossman) Schaefer.

She graduated from Sheboygan High School, class of 1938.

Emma was employed at Lakeland Mfg. Company and Kohler Company for many years.

On September 27, 1952 Emma Schaefer and Alex Markus were united in marriage at Immanuel Ev. Congregational Church in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1974. She later married Howard Miller on April 12, 1980. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1999.

She was involved in Women’s Ministries at Immanuel Bible Church. Emma enjoyed playing Spinner and Scrabble, knitting, doing crosswords, and spending time with her family.

Emma is survived by her son, David (Carol) Markus of Yukon, OK; daughter, Karen Fuchs of Florida; two granddaughters, Naomi Cerda of Sheboygan and Tasha Berry of Edmond, OK; two grandsons, Jesse Markus of Portland, OR and Seth Markus of Yukon, OK; three great grandchildren, Jayme Berry of Florida, Alejandra Cerda and Alujandro Sosa of Sheboygan; two sisters, Esther Casady and Dorothy Grimmer of Sheboygan; one brother, Henry (Beverly) Schaefer of Sheboygan; brother-in-law, Bill Hernke; sister-in-law, Marion Menzer of Chicago, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother, John (Bea) Schaefer; two sisters, Ruth Leonhardt and Frieda Hernke; three brothers-in-law, Andrew Casady, Peter Grimmer, and Jerome Leonhardt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Ballhorn Chapels and Crematory. Pastor Paul Tautges of Immanuel Bible Church will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in Emma’s name.

Emma Miller’s family sends a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers of Aurora VNA Hospice and Comfort Keepers for the compassion and care shown to her.

Emma will always be remembered for putting her family first, serving others, and her love for the Lord.
