

Filiberto was born May 11, 1930 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to Filiberto Gomez and Maria Lopez. In the 1950’s he moved to Indiana and was united in marriage to Estela I. Gomez in 1963. In 1967 his family moved to San Antonio, Texas where Filiberto was employed at Ingram Mfg Co and retired as a roller assembler. Estela preceded him in death in 1990.
In 1996 his family relocated to Sheboygan where he worked part-time at Rex Cleaning. He was active in the Hispanic community and was named Humanitarian of the Year by the Fiesta Hispana committee in 2000.
Filiberto was a member of St. Clement Catholic Parish.
His family was of the greatest importance to him and he was always there for them. He instilled good values in them that will be his legacy in the years ahead. He also never went anywhere without his cowboy hat.
Filiberto is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lourdes and Nino Castillo; his son and daughter-in-law, Filiberto and Letty Gomez all of Sheboygan; twelve grandchildren, Priscilla (Angel) Tavera, John (Laurie) Martinez, Marissa Martinez, Erik Medina, Yvette Aguilar, Patrick Aguilar, Jonathan Gomez, Dino Castillo, Danny Castillo, Zachary Castillo, Tina Castillo, and Gina Castillo; fourteen great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Angel, Fabian, Nayeli, Isaac, Autumn, Anthony, Addison, Charlize, Trey III, Frankie, Aiden, Drey, and Aurelia; one brother, Rolando Gomez; two sisters, Otila Pedraza and Guadalupe Rodriguez; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Filiberto was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Lizzette Winters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at St. Clement Catholic Church by Rev. James E. Connell. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held Thursday evening at Ballhorn Chapels from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
Filiberto’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all his doctors and nurses the past three years and a special thank you to the entire staff at Golden Living Center. He truly appreciated your kindness and care.
Filiberto will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather whose kindness and generosity and willingness to help others will live on.
