

Hildegarde Marie (Hoffmann) Vanic, age 92, of Bloomington, MN died peacefully Sunday morning, September 22, 2013 at home. Hildegarde was born November 14, 1920 in Sheboygan to Edwin and Gertrude (Rademacher) Hoffmann. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and graduated from Trinity Lutheran School. She was a graduate of Sheboygan High School, Class of 1938. On September 20, 1949 Hildegarde and Charles Vanic were united in marriage. He preceded her in death on January 27, 2003. Hildegarde was a resident of Sheboygan, WI for 91 years and moved to Bloomington, MN to be closer to family in June 2012. While in Sheboygan, Hildegarde was formerly employed at the offices of the Phoenix Chair Company and as a Teacher's Aide at James Madison Elementary School. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was a member of their Women's Guild, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Shop and Auxiliary, was a member of the Sheboygan Women’s Club and was a charter member of the Kohler Sports Core where she swam weekly. In Bloomington, Hildegarde was a member of Mount Hope Lutheran Church; enjoyed swimming and attended exercise classes where she lived. Hildegarde enjoyed many happy times at Lake Michigan and Kohler Andrae State Park. Most of all she loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed the times they spent together. Hildegarde is survived by her children, Gary (Anne) Vanic of Moreland Hills, OH and their son Matt of Twin Falls, ID; Glen (Karen) Vanic and their children Ian and Laura of Eden Prairie, MN; Gale (Donald) Paul and their son Henry of Landenberg, PA; Grace (Robert) Raymond and their children Michael and Mara of St. Paul, MN; her sister Eileen Jensen of La Mesa, CA and other nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Reverend Dan Ritter from Mount Hope Lutheran Church in MN will be officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. The family has requested that memorial contributions be given to Lutheran High School 3323 University Dr. Sheboygan, WI 53081 or Mount Hope Lutheran Church 3601 W. Old Shakopee Rd. Bloomington, MN 55431.
Hildegarde will always be remembered for her love of family and for believing the best in everyone.
