Lorene Virginia Louderback Jenkins, 85, a resident of Shenandoah, passed away on February 17, 2016 at Sentara-RMH Medical Center.
She was born in Shenandoah on May 22, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Virgie Foltz Louderback.
Lorene was a lifelong resident of Shenandoah and graduated from Shenandoah High School. She was a member of the Newport Christian Church, an active member of the Newport Christian Church Women’s Fellowship, Grove Hill Friendship Club and the Newport-Grove Hill Ruritans. She was a loving wife, mother and friend who enjoyed sewing and gardening.
On November 25, 1950 she married, James Benjamin Jenkins, who survives.
She is also survived by her children, Debra J. Bailey of Kenly, NC, Elizabeth Williams and husband, David, of Verona, James D. Jenkins and wife, Tina, of Luray, Robert W. “Robbie” Jenkins and wife, Deanna, of Shenandoah, and Charles E. Jenkins and wife, Denise, of Shenandoah; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dennis Bailey.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Newport Christian Church.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, at the church on Saturday, February 20, 2016, with Pastor Tracy Shifflett and Pastor Earl Painter, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Newport Cemetery.
