Mary Lou Smith

Mary Lou Smith 90, of Shepherdsville, passed away at her home on Friday, May 10, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky on Monday, December 4, 1933, to the late Henry Stewart Beeler Sr. and Lillie Pearl Monroe Beeler.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Mae Beeler, and brothers, Duard Jackson Beeler, and William Pope Beeler. 

Mary Lou was a member University of Kentucky Fellows Society, a life member of University of Kentucky Alumni Association, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Bullitt County Woman’s Club, Shepherdsville Christian Church, a volunteer at the Bullitt County YMCA, and Kentucky Citizen Foster Care Review Board. She and her husband were Kentucky football and basketball season ticket holders for over 60 years. She enjoyed traveling, boating, and time with her family. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 67 years, Billy Howard Smith; her children, Gregory Howard Smith (Myra), Billy Lou Wright (Larry) and Douglas Monroe Smith; her brother, Dr. Henry S. Beeler; her grandsons, Samuel Carlton Smith, and Jackson Sholar Smith; along with a host of other family and friends. 

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in the chapel of Hardy-Close Funeral Home 285 South Buckman Street Shepherdsville, with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery. Visitations will be Tuesday 3:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association and Hosparus Health of Louisville.
