Charles Gilbert Cummins

Mr. Charles Gilbert Cummins, age 75, of Simpsonville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Mr. Cummins was born in Louisville, KY on May 18, 1947 to the late Emma May Mears Cummins and John O. Cummins, Sr. He was Baptist by faith, an avid fisherman and retired from the Shelby County Road Dept. He loved and cared deeply for his adoring family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Danny, Junior, Tommy and Albert “Bimbo” Cummins and his dear friend, Juanita McIntyre.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 43 years, Sharon E. Cummins; children, Robert “Bobby” L. Cummins (Angie), Charlene Shepherd (Chuck), Mary “Nita” Johnston (Kenny) and Jennifer “Kristen” Shingleton; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; daughter-by-heart, Laura Just and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 18, 2022 with Rev. Bill Taylor officiating in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial to follow at Simpsonville Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Saturday, September 17 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Sunday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 2pm at the funeral home.
