Charles Stephan Kopple

Mr. Charles Stephan “Steve” Kopple, age 70, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 12, 2022. He was born on June 11, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Kopple retired after 17 years of service at Blue Grass Cooperage working as a boiler. He was a member of Mount Elmira Baptist Church. Mr. Kopple is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Frankie Kopple; brothers, Edward Kopple, Joseph Kopple, Douglas Kopple; sister, Maela Sue Kuhn; and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Steve to some, Charlie to others, was a man who had a great sense of humor. He could make anyone and everyone laugh. Never meeting a stranger; he made everyone feel included, whether he actually knew them or not. Steve loved his road trips, never having any particular destination, but he always ended up in Elizabethtown. If he wasn’t driving, he loved sitting on the front porch feeding the squirrels and waving to everyone who passed by. Steve was one that loved playing the lottery. His favorite was the scratch offs. He was an avid golfer in the earlier years until an injury in 2014 All that knew him will miss him very dearly.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 40 years, Brenda Kopple; son, Shaun Kopple (Kathy); daughter, Stephany Hampton (Christopher Mockus); granddaughter, Kirsten Reynolds (Nick); grandson, Logan Hampton; brother, Richard Kopple (Ann); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Cremation was chosen. Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
