David Earl Cook

David Earl Cook, age 74, of Okolona, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 9, 2023. He was born on November 13, 1948 in Oldham County, Kentucky. Mr. Cook worked at General Electric where he retired after 35 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harley Cook and Lula (Scrogham) Young; brother, Ronnie Cook; and stepfather, George Young.

David loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, boating, deer hunting, and being out in nature. He was an active member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Louisville. David also operated a lawn service. He was a member of Shelby County Bass Masters Club.

His memories will be cherished by his loving wife of 40 years, Lena Cook; daughter, Amy Dunlapp (John); grandchildren, Aliyah and Braxton Dunlapp; fur baby, Max; sister, Shirley Smitha; brothers, Gary Cook (Cathy), Bo Cook (Peggy), Mike Cook; sister-in-law, Debbie Cook; special friend, Danny Smitha (Mary); along with a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd) with burial at Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respect on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm and again on Thursday from 11:00am until 2:00pm.
