

Hershel Ray Croft age 77 of Valley Station-Hodgenville, KY. and a native of Salem ,KY. born October 6, 1938 and passed away on April 8, 2016 at home with his loving children by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Chester Rhea Croft, Edith Dixon Croft; brothers, Carol Randall Croft, James Dallas Croft; sister, Shirley Roland; son, Steven Croft; daughter, Patty Croft. He leaves to cherish his memory the mother of his children Wanda Croft Hester; children, Ray Croft, Ricky Croft, Cathy Croft, Dianna Knox and Richard Croft; brother, Kenny Croft; and 12 step children; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. He was a mechanic and retired from Flynn Brothers and was a talented handy man always looking to help others. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and home improvements projects and donated a lot of his time bartending at the V.F.W Post 9 Shelby Street. An inviting smile and encouraging conversation made him a friend to many strangers to none. A special thanks to Terri Croft, Hosparus and Dr. Moulana. Friends may pay their respects from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Funeral service will be conducted two p.m. on Tuesday at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home.
