Hilda Marie Franklin

Hilda was born August 3, 1943 to the late James Henry Winters and Janetta Buse Sturnbaugh in Louisville, Kentucky. She was retired from the Spencer County Public School System as a Secretary. Hilda and her husband Dean, owned and operated Hillside Farm for over 50 years.  She was a member of Plum Creek Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Church Hostess and a Choir member. 

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Dean Franklin and her parents, James Henry Winters and Janetta Buse Sturnbaugh and her step-mother, Bessie Burkhead Winters; son-in-law, Robert Vest; brothers, Robert Ritter, Richard Ritter,  Donnie Ritter and a sister, Betty Jo Ritter.

She is survived by her  children, Curtis Dean Franklin (Denise), Tina Marie Franklin Vest, and James “Jamie” Franklin (Penny); grandchildren, Jacob Franklin (Amanda), Skylar Vest (Shelby), Noah Franklin (Elisa), Abby Haulk (Rusty) and Sarah Lewis (Dalton); great-granchild, Eli Franklin; sisters, Joyce Stephenson (Fred), Jeanette Bryan (Kenny), Relda Thompson (Larry), Nelda Toles (Tom), Sherry Edwards (Jim), and Candy Johnson 

The celebration of her life will be at Plum Creek Baptist Church,  31 Plum Creek Road, Taylorsville, KY  at 2:00pm on Saturday, December 9, 2023, with a burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home, 123 Winning Circle Drive, Mt. Washington on Thursday 12:00 pm –8:00pm, Friday 10am-8pm and Saturday from 10:00am until the time of service at the church.
