Jack West, Jr.

Mr. Jack West, Jr, age 73, of Fairdale, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on February 24, 1950, to the late Jack West Sr., and Patricia (Finnell) West. Ranger Jack retired after 25 plus years of service with the Louisville Metro Parks, where he was a ranger. He enjoyed nature and was a self-taught naturalist, he led team building projects while working at Metro Parks for children and adults. Jack loved hunting and fishing, he liked to entertain family and friends, for 30 years he has been having Man Night at his barn at his home, what started out as people gathering to make bows for archery, became a weekly tradition of cooking, drinking, and telling a few lies among friends “however woman and children were invited”. Also, there was the annual Men’s winter over nighter that has been taking place now for 40 years, Jack helped head that up. He also truly loved his lake family, and he will be missed by them all. But the most important things were that he was a loving husband to his late wife Barbara, and his two sons, and his two grandsons who referred to him simply as Papa Jack. Jack will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his late wife Barbara West, father, and his brother Jerry West.

He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Brent West (Luisa), and Ryan West (Megan), two grandsons Noah, and Caleb West, his mother Patricia West, his three brothers Donnie West, Ron West (Susan), and Kevin West (Beth), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd). Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 2:00 pm until time of service. Cremation was chosen.

In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Gregory Grade School.
