James Robert Jones

Mr. James Robert Jones, age 95, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 6, 2024. He was born in Hart County, Kentucky on December 2, 1928 to the late Calvin and Harriett (Vance) Jones. Mr. Jones worked at Ford Motor Company LAP for 30 years. He has been retired from Ford for 40 years. Mr. Jones was a lifelong member of the UAW #862. His hobbies included bowling, hunting and fishing. Mr. Jones’ favorite times though were spending time with his grandchildren teaching them to hunt and fish along with holding his great and great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jones; great granddaughter, Kayla Jones; dear family member, Carl Vance Sr.; parents; and his siblings, Everett, Lewis, Betty, Georgia Ann, Christine, Mary Ellen, Bessie, and Harry.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Bonnie Israel (Rick), Carl Vance (Linda) and Calvin Jones (Connie); grandchildren, Stephanie Gentry (James), Jennifer Burkhead (Scott), Amanda Twyman (Donald), Calvin Jones Jr. “CJ”, Coy Stepro (Amber), April Israel, Brandey Deweese (Brandon), Chuck Israel (Tiffany), Scott Vance (Kim), Wendy McCarty (Daniel) and Lesley Nagle (Brian); great grandchildren, Megan Chambers (Hunter), Jossie Gomez, Kaitlain Gomez, Jackson Vance, Maggie McCarty, Brooklyn McCarty, Colin Nagle, Owen Nagle, Jesalyn McIver (Ben), Kiara Robertson (Thomas), Shelby Kopple (Clayton), Morgan Gentry (Noah), Josie Burkhead, Brooke Twyman (Kam), Addison Stepro, Hagan Stepro, Kyliegh Jones, Torie Butler (Joe), Tyler Lloyd (Alex), Brittany Rizer (Preston), Mason Israel, Kaylee Israel, Brady Israel, Rylan Israel, Lyla Israel, Tayler Wietecha, and Trinity Wietecha; great great grandchildren, Addy Biggers, Mia Burkhead, Claire Booth, Landen Booth, Ashton Nida, Rosalie Nida, Beckham Kopple, Grayson Cory, Holden Butler, Harley Butler, Maddie Rizer, Aubrey Lloyd, Tatum Chambers, Devin Filiatreau (Jossie), Elijah Gomez and Carter Gomez; brother-in-law, Ervin Coogle (Laverne); dear friend, Brenda Banks; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Hwy.) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
