Janet Arlene Gillespie

Janet Arlene “Dudley” Gillespie, age 86, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 17, 2022. She was born on April 6, 1936, in Erie, Pennsylvania. She was a member of St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church. She worked beside her husband as Mrs. Claus at Opryland and Green Hills Mall in Nashville. She was an avid gardener. She was an adoring grandmother and great-grandmother. Everyone loved her cooking and her famous Christmas cookies. She will be deeply missed by all. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Jack Gillespie; parents, David and Thora Dudley; son, Thomas “Tom” Andrew Gillespie; great grandson, Zaine Smith; and sister, Jean MacFiggen.   

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Linda Herrmann (Mark), Karen Mahurin (Don), Diane Gillespie, Patty Donohue (John), Joyce Cloys (Ken) and Daniel Gillespie (Aimee); 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 21, 2022, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church 903 Fairdale Road, Fairdale, KY. with burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 20 at 12pm until 8pm and Friday 9am until 9:30 am at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home 4895 North Preston Highway Shepherdsville   Expressions of sympathy to St. Teresa of Calcutta Church and to Salvation Army.
