Joseph Leon Downs

Mr. Joseph Leon Downs, age 77, of Brooks, returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, October 5, 2014. Mr. Downs was born in Louisville, KY on October 31, 1936 to the late Ruby and Joseph Downs, he was a member of Teamsters Local 89.

Among those who preceded him in death include, his son, Gerald Ray Downs; daughter, Angela Lynn Downs and sisters, Pamela Wright and Sharon Lee Downs.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Downs; children, Joseph Downs Jr., Barbara Garrison (Wayne), Jeanica Reed (Richard), Regina Troutman (Ronnie) and Nicholas Troutman; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brothers, James McAuliffe and Michael Wright and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.; use John Harper entrance) with interment in Brookland Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
