

Ms. Joyce Ann (Farmer) Trammell, age 83, of Brooks, made her transition on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Ms. Trammell was born in Shepherdsville on March 5, 1937 to the late Harry Wesley and Mary Evelyn (Joyce) Farmer. She graduated from Shepherdsville High School in 1955 and went on to attend and graduate from Asbury University, earning her music degree. She retired from the Bullitt County Public School System. Ms. Trammell was the former editor for the Kentucky Derby Museum Newsletter and the Stable Manager for Pete Salmen, Jr. Racing Stables. She was the owner of several successful race horses with her cousin, Bonnie Scalberg (Terry). Joyce Ann was a lifelong Democrat and served on the Bullitt County Board of Elections and a member of the Democratic party. She is the author of two published books and a published song writer.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her partner of 20 years, Marcos Medrano of New Mexico; daughters, Rachel Salmen (Pete, III) and Rebekah Witherington; Marcos daughters, Michelle Medrano and Rachel Jordan; grandchildren, Julianna, Peter William, IV and Phillip; “perfect” great-grandsons, Oliver and Barrett; special great-grandson, Albie; and companion cat, Tumbleweed.

Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, January 17, 2021 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with interment to follow at Hebron Cemetery, Friends may pay their respects Sunday from 12 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
