Katherine "Kathy" Elizabeth Potter

Katherine Elizabeth “Kathy” Potter, age 78, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 9, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1947, in LaGrange, Kentucky to the late Virgil and Mary (McDonald) Deckard. Kathy retired from the United States Postal Service after more than 30 years of faithful service. She loved flowers and animals and enjoyed fishing, sewing and crafting projects. She was known as an excellent cook, whether it be her lasagna, biscuits and gravy or meatloaf, her daughters’ friends would hang out at her house hoping to get an invitation to stay for dinner. Her true passion was her family; spending time with them was what Kathy held most dear to her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie Moore, James Moore and David Deckard; sisters, Alma and Wilma and her dear friend, Jeannette Hammond.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Annette Richey (Troy), Lydia Livers (Walter), Karen Fields (Troy), Jennifer Young and Jessica Potter-Poe (Jason); grandchildren, Julie, Ryan, Bradley, Sarah, Walt, Matthew, Nathan, Kylee, Hailee, Ashley, Kayla, Morrigan and Tobias; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lynn Deckard (Cindy) and Steve Deckard; fur-baby, Buddy and a host of other family and friends.

Memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with inurnment in St. Michael Cemetery (Greenville, Indiana) at a later date. Family and friends may pay their respects on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home.
