It is with great sadness that Kelly Sue Warehime, 59, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on September 7, 2024, after a long, valiant battle with Huntington’s Disease. She was a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her father, Gerald Warehime, sister, Katherine and brother, Brian.
Kelly was born on May 4, 1965, to Kersinda “Sue” and Gerald Warehime of Toledo, Ohio. She was the best big sister, daughter and friend. She was funny, kind, positive and compassionate. She had the biggest heart, always willing to share anything she had with anyone. She always had a smile on her face, despite her many challenges with HD, never a complaint. She lived each day to the fullest and was thankful for everything anyone did to help her. She was cared for 24/7 for the last ten years of her life by the world’s greatest mom.
Kelly graduated from Ballard High School in 1983. She studied Fashion Merchandising at Western Kentucky University and graduated in 1987. She was obsessed with fashion and the latest trends. She became a registered nurse after losing her only brother, Brian, to leukemia. She worked in long-term care and even took care of patients with Huntington’s. She made sure they were well cared for and often bought them what they wanted or needed. She was a nurse that saw the patient, not their disease.
She is survived by her loving mom, Kersinda “Sue” Foster; her sisters, Michelle (Bob) Cooke, Jennifer (Brian) Tierney and Sarah Warehime; a niece, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Visition will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 10 am until 1 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.). Funeral immediately following and Christian burial in Brookland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vanderbilt Neurology or Huntington’s Disease Society of America, Nashville Chapter in Kelly’s honor.
Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Claassen, the most compassionate neurologist, and his entire team at Vanderbilt.
