She was the second born daughter of Ottis and Amanda (Caudill) Woods, raised in the mountains of eastern Kentucky. She had a feisty spirit and loved roaming the hills with cousins, family and friends. She learned to drive at an early age, one of the first women drivers on the creek. She was the only girl on the boys’ softball team at Stinnett School. At a young age, she met Earl Roark at a county fair. They married January 13,1951 and lived a long, happy life together for 67 years. While Earl worked away from home driving a truck for many years, she raised their 7 children as only she could. She was fearless and determined and devoted to her husband and children, especially the boys. She raised her children to be honest and hardworking but never wanted them to leave home. When the youngest child started school, she started driving a school bus for the Bullitt County School System for 33 years. Not only raising her own children, but many others and always treated them as her own.
