Lonnie Ray Underwood

Mr. Lonnie R. Underwood, age 76, of Shepherdsville, KY went to be with his heavenly father in the early morning hours on Monday, March 15, 2021. He was the son of Allene Smith and the late Brown Underwood of Campbellsville, KY. He was a retired train conductor for Norfolk Southern Railroad, and an active member of Overdale United Methodist Church. Lonnie was a quiet person but seemed to fit into any group. After many years on the road for Norfolk he enjoyed spending time at home. There was nothing Lonnie enjoyed more than working in his yard and talking with his many neighborhood friends.

Among those who preceded him in death are, his father, and brothers, Bill and Tim Underwood.

Lonnie is survived by his wife Martha Riggs Underwood, his mother Allene Smith, 3 children, Brian (Brandie), Brittany (Colin), and Rob. His grandchildren, Sydney and Ryne Underwood, Max Aubrey (Linda), Erika Underwood, and Kayelia, Kalissa and Luke Elzy. Also surviving are 2 stepchildren, Melissa Riggs Knight (Jeff), and Michael Riggs (Loretta), 4 step grandchildren Peyton Van Meter, Maylee Knight, Mike Kimbro, Aaron Riggs and 1 great grandchild Lucy Kimbro.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 10am until 2pm on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with private burial to follow.
