

Mary Frances “Fran” Ryan, age 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday March 17, 2024. She was born on July 31, 1943. Fran was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Axtel and Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Fran was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was simply "MeMe" to her 9 grandchildren who she adored. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched. Fran's love for her family was immeasurable, she found true joy in the moments when they were all together. She took immense pride in her grandchildren and their abilities and accomplishments. One of Fran’s favorite places on Earth was Rough River Lake, which she affectionately referred to as "Paradise", where she enjoyed lake life with her family and friends. The beach, sunsets, watching and feeding birds, and views of the moon were also sources of great delight for her.
Fran leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family and friends. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Emily (Hughes) McGrath and James C. Will, and her infant daughter Mary Cornelia Ryan.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 61 years, Edward Ryan, daughters Brenda Thomson (Mickey) and Melissa Manning (Michael), son Dugan Ryan (Kim), 9 grandchildren Michael Thomson, Mary Jessica Thomson, Ryan Thomson, Kayla Thomson, Natalie Manning, Micah Hinton (Dakota), Grayson Manning, Trey Ryan, Patrick Ryan, 2 sisters Cathy Hawkins (Bud), Vicky Catlett (James) along with a host of brothers and sisters in law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 25, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 1654 KY-79, Axtel, Kentucky at 12:00p.m. (EDT), with burial to follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024. from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. (EDT) at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.), and also on Monday at 11:00a.m. (EDT) at the church.
