Michael Henry Schutz

Mr. Michael Henry Schutz, age 77, of Louisville, Ky passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born in Rhinebeck, New York on April 20, 1948, to the late Adam Schutz and Louise (Downner) Schutz. Michael was a loving and devoted Husband, Dad, and grandfather. He worked for the Airport Authority in the maintenance department. Michael was a proud United States Army Veteran “Vietnam Era”. He belonged to the American Legion GI Joe Post, Military order of Purple Hearts, in the VFW Amvets ,40 + 8 Ana vicus, a Kentucky Colonel, and was also very involved with North Bullitt Jr. R.O.T.C. He also liked to fish, cook, and tinker around in his garage. Michael will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter Becky Hoskins, brother Robert Schutz his wife Claire, brother Richard Schutz.

He is survived by his loving wife Doris Schutz, stepson Jeff Hunt, son-in-law Kenny Hoskins, grandchildren Ben Hoskins, Ava Hoskins, brother William Schutz (Maryann), along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.

A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Hwy, at John Harper Freeway). The visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Final interment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
