

Nancy Lynn Hughes (Mattingly), age 43, of Mount Washington returned to her Heavenly Father on August 28, 2016 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital from complications of a brain aneurysm. Nancy was employed at Norton Kosair Hospital for 20 years, where she was nominated for Nurse of the Year in 2015. She was a graduate of Assumption High School and U of L School of Nursing. Among those that preceded her in death include her sister, Joan Marie Mattingly; grandparents, Dennis and Josephine Abell and Thomas Lee and Grace Mattingly. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 17 years, Jason Hughes; children, Sara Grace and Sydney Lynn; parents, Dan and Jan Mattingly; siblings, Daniel Mattingly (Debbie), Julie Veith (Tony) and Amy Mattingly (Letty Quesenberry); mother-in-law, Connie Hughes; father and stepmother-in-law, Gordon and Glenda Hughes; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sara Hughes (Carlos), Gretchen Schroeder (Bakir) and Kurt Schroeder (Yvonne); 15 nieces and nephews; and many other loving family, friends and co-workers. Nancy was an organ donor. Her family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff, nurses and doctors at Brownsboro Hospital for their compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (155 Stringer Lane Mt. Washington, KY 40047) with cremation to follow. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 4-8 pm and Thursday from 12-8 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (4895 N. Preston Highway Shepherdsville, KY 40165).
