Peggy Lee Mumford

Mrs. Peggy Lee Wright Mumford, age 80, of Okolona, entered the Gates of Heaven on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 with the family and husband that she took care of so well by her side. She was born on September 23, 1943 in Louisville, KY to the late Charles and Margaret Wright.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary Dale Helm, and all of her siblings. Her family jokingly said Wednesday that they could hear “Sis” being hollered out all over Heaven as she was reunited with her 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Peggy was a member of Okolona Christian Church. All who knew her knew how much she loved her church and the members in it. She was actively involved in the church and their preschool program for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 63 years, Gerald Mumford; children, Julie Helm, Jerry and Kim Mumford, Sally and Jeff Williamson and Beth Klefot; her 9 grandchildren, David Helm (Holly), Tiffani Helm, Drew Mumford (Christina), Jordan Milburn (Tyler), Megan Klefot, Brittany Williams (Jared), Brandon Klefot (Lexi), Morgan Williamson and Maddie Klefot; her 6 great-grandchildren, Derrell, Barrett, Jenson, Brighton, Hudson and McKenna and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Okolona Christian Church (10801 Faithful Way, Louisville, KY) with burial to follow at Hebron Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) and on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of her service at 11:00 am at Okolona Chrisitan Church.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to WHAS Crusade for Children or to Hosparus.
