Ruby Jewel Newton

Mrs. Ruby Jewel (Jessie) Newton, age 80, of Shepherdsville returned to her Heavenly Father on May 6, 2023. Mrs. Newton was born on April 12, 1943, in Barren County, KY to the late James Rufus and Flara Mae (Sexton) Jessie. She worked for the Bullitt County Board of Education as a bus monitor and was a member of Fairdale United Baptist Church. Among those that preceded her in death are her parents, husband, Earl Phillip Newton; brother, James Jessie; and great-grandson, Draven Hughes.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Karen Potts, Sharon Sego, Jeffrey Newton (Christy), and Cathy Delk (Kevin); grandchildren, Tabitha, Kayla, Lane, Travis, Hannah, and Jet; great-grandchildren, Destinee, Demetrius, Gabriel, Isaiah, Liam, and Everlee; and siblings, Delmas Jessie, Virginia Vertrees, Rondel Jessie, and Barbara Hodge.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10 am on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Lone Hill United Baptist Church Cemetery.
