Sammy "Doug" Powers

Mr. Sammy “Doug” Powers, age 52, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 30, 2023. Doug was born in Louisville, Ky to Sammy Powers and Pattie (Ryan) Powers. He worked as a delivery driver for Fed-Ex Ground for 22 years, he enjoyed going to the lake with his friends and family, Doug loved the beach, Nascar, and the Indiana Hoosiers. Doug also had a cat named “Buddy” who he adored. He was a wonderful husband and father, and friend, he will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Juanita Ryan, and Harrington and Dorothy Powers.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Jennifer Powers, daughters, Cortney and Audrey Powers, parents, Sammy and Pattie Powers, sister Amy Preher (Bill), mother-in-law- Carolyn Foerster, brother-in-law, Chris Bielefeld (Dina), sisters-in-laws, Angel Morrison (Steve), and Terri Luckett (Paul), along with a host of nieces and nephews, and other dear family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy at Brooks Rd). Family and friends may pay their respects from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. and again after service until 8:00 p.m.
