Thomas "Tom" Hayes, Jr.

  Thomas M. “Tom” Hayes, Jr., age 78 of Bardstown, returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, February 6, 2023. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years of service. He loved drag racing; spending time at Ohio Valley Raceway , Beach Bend Raceway and several others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Hayes, Sr. and Ina Howel; grandson, Steven Hayes; grandparents, Mom and Pop who raised him and brothers, James Hayes, Robert Hayes and Henry Hayes.

   He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 58 years, Augie Hadley; sons, Thomas “Little Tom” Hayes III (Brenda) and Cecil Hayes; grandchildren, Allen Hayes, Ryan Hayes, Reinna Hayes, Sierra Hayes, Ruthie Hayes, Shelby Dilman and Kelsey Dilman; great-grandchildren, Summer Hayes and Ryan Hayes, Jr.; sister, Mary Grey; nieces and nephews, Dodie Garey and Jamie Garey and a host of other family and friends.

   Funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, February 11, 2023, in the chapel at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with burial in Brookland Cemetery. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 1 pm until 8 pm and on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 9 am until time of service at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home.
