Walter Franklin Smith

   Mr. Walter "Big Wally" Franklin Smith, age 71, of Shepherdsville, formerly of Greensburg, KY returned to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 23, 2022.   Mr. Smith was born in Green County, KY on April 19, 1951, to the late Woodrow Smith and Claire Lillian DeBlock Smith.

   He had been employed for 46 years for the Gateway Press Company.

   Besides his parents he is also preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Ann Smith; a son, Nathaniel Smith; three brothers, Michael Smith, Robert Smith and Steven Smith.

   He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 31 years, Donna Jarrett Smith; two daughters, Mellany Zanetti (Jonathan) and Natalie Smith (Leonard Nix); a son, Brandon Jarrett; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Edwards, Claire Hale, Mason Hale, Jacqueline Hale, Jacob Haysley, Lilly Nix, and Maddie Nix; two grandchildren, Hala Zanetti and Hunt Zanetti; three great grandchildren, Brennen Edwards, Connor Edwards and Mila Gutterman; two sisters, Jean Grant (Donnie) and Peggy Williams (Mike); two brothers, James Smith and Phillip Smith (Shirley); and his two dogs, Bubby and Sissy and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

   Funeral service will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, July 29, 2022, in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road).  Friends may pay their respects on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 3 pm until 8 pm and on Friday from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home.
