William R. "Sonny" Herdt

Mr. William R. “Sonny” Herdt, age 83, of Fairdale, returned to his Heavenly Father on Monday, October 28, 2024. Mr. Herdt was born in Louisville, KY on March 8, 1941 to the late Rudolph Frank Herdt and Yvonne Paulette Herdt. He retired from Ford Motor Company, was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. 

In addition to his parents, his brother, Larry Herdt and sister, Sandy Potter preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Mattie Cox- Herdt; children, Tammy Coulter, William M. “Billy” Herdt (Michelle) and Paula Clemons; stepchildren, James Arnold and Samantha Wilson (Brandon); grandchildren, Dereck Clemons, Brittany Coulter (Chad), Alex Herdt (Kaitlyn) and Andrew Herdt (Tara); several step- grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Paulette Miller and a host of other dear family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2024 in the chapel of Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects on Sunday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
