William Stephen Irwin

Mr. William Stephen Irwin, age 88, of Louisville, returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Mr. Irwin was born in Louisville, KY on January 2, 1937 to the late Steve and Leoneldia Irwin. He was a devoted member of St. Luke Catholic Church and an active participant in the Knights of Columbus, St. John the 23rd Council. A proud alumnus of St. Xavier High School, class of 1955, Mr. Irwin went on to serve honorably in the United States Army. He enjoyed a long career with Navistar International before continuing to stay active in retirement through his work with Avis Rent-A-Car.

In addition to his parents, his daughter, Angela Marie Krueger and his brothers, Robert Irwin and Steve Irwin preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 67 years, Joan (Stultz) Irwin; son, Anthony Irwin (Rita) of Waxahachie, TX; son, Timothy Irwin; granddaughter, Meredith Krueger of New Albany, IN; son-in-law, Leeland Krueger of New Albany, IN and a host of nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.

Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 29, 2025 at St. Luke Catholic Church (4211 Jim Hawkins Dr., Louisville, KY) with cremation to follow. Friends and family may pay their respects from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.)
