Willie "Rex" Smith

Mr. Smith was born to Willie Eugene and Mable Hunt Smith on November 26, 1933 in Barren Co. Kentucky. Rex was a member of Central Church of Christ and a talented musician. He was a proud member of the Preston Highway String Band who plays bluegrass music in nursing homes and assisted care facilities. Rex loved bringing joy to hundreds of our community's elderly.

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by parents, Willie and Mable Smith; a brother, Everett Smith and a sister Juanita Doolin.

Mr. Smith leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 56 years, Rebecca Smith; a daughter Renee Sullivan (Tim); a son, Ricky Smith, 4 grandchildren, Aaron Sullivan, Tyler and Andrew Smith, and Cara Popp (Steven); 2 great grandchildren, Savannah and Tyler Popp; 3 sisters, Helen Eaton, Ruby Gosnell, and Dianne Steenbergen; 2 brothers, Ray Smith (Janice) and Carroll Smith (Nell); a sister-in-law, Marie Smith; and his favorite furry companion, Abigail.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday January, 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm EST. in the chapel of A. F. Crow and Son Funeral Home, 201 E. Washington ST. Glasgow, Ky. 42141, with burial at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery to follow. Friends and Family may pay their respects on Monday, January, 23, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm EST. at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brook Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Hwy. (at Brooks Rd.), and at A.F Crow and Son Funeral Home in Glasgow on Wednesday from 10:00 am CST. until time of service.
