

Rudie Wagner of Shiner, Texas passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011, at the age of 89. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 8 am to 9 pm with a Rosary at 6 pm at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner. Funeral service will be on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 10 am at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church with Father Knippenburg officiating. Burial will follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice. Rudie was born in 1922 in Moulton, Texas to Joe and Mary (Matula) Wagner. Rudie was raised with seven siblings and was taught at an early age about farming and ranching, which he continued doing throughout his life. Rudie was called into the Army to serve his country in October of 1942. He was a sharpshooter and earned WWII victory medal, campaign medal with 4 bronze stars, bronze star medal and a good conduct medal. On December 1, 1945 Rudy was honorably discharged. Rudie married Mary Caka on September 24, 1947 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and they made their home in Shiner. Rudie and Mary were blessed with two sons and three daughters. He was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, KJT and the American Legion. Rudie was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two infant brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife; Mary, sons; Raymond and Alvin, daughters; Marlene Parr, Janice Lehnert and Delores Panus, sisters; Bessie Kubenka and Della Kloesel, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren along with many friends. Rudie lived a full life and had the chance to experience many things. He will greatly missed by many. Arrangements under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home, Shiner, TX.
