Alice Rew was born on January 23, 1922, in Shreveport, LA to John Hasty and Bonnie Hollingsworth Hasty and passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021.
She retired from Field Enterprises, where she held the position of District Manager. Alice was also President of the Matthew Agee Chapter Colonial Dames. Perhaps her greatest joy in life was teaching and sharing her knowledge of the Bible to the children at Wynn Methodist Church. Alice was a compassionate woman with a deep Christian faith, and she will be fondly remembered by all whose young lives she touched. Later in life, “Miss Alice,” as her church family called her, had the privilege of sharing her faith and knowledge of the Bible with the Ragan-Middleton Sunday School Class at Summer Grove United Methodist Church. She looked forward to every Sunday when she could teach and be with those in her church family that she so loved. The last few years of her life, she accompanied her granddaughter, Holly, to Cypress Baptist Church, which enriched her faith and made her so happy to meet new friends in Christ. Alice lived each day to the fullest. Every day was a happy day and she began every morning with prayer and devotion time. Her legacy will forever live on through her faithful testimony.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her special mother, Laura Doles Hasty; husband, “Jinky” Broome; son, Ken Broome; brother, John R. Hasty; and sisters, Jacqueline Fridge and Gloria Surry.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Brenda French and son-in-law, Jerry; her grandchildren, Holly French-Hart and husband, Michael, Randy Broome and wife, Holly, and Cindy McClung and husband, Robert; great-grandsons, Russell Broome and Austin Hamilton; and two great-great grandchildren.
