A service will be conducted at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel for Berna Deane Easter, age 86, of Shreveport, LA on Wednesday November 14, 2018 at 10:00 am with a visitation at 9:30 am. Officiating the services will be Rev. Dawn Young. An interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.
Mrs. Easter entered into rest on Saturday November 10, 2018 at the hospital after a long illness. She was born March 24, 1932 in Gorin, MO and lived in Shreveport, Louisiana since 1966.
She was employed in the accounting offices of Kast Metals Corporation starting in Keokuk, IA in 1964 and moved to the Shreveport office in 1966 where she continued employment until 1986 when the company started to gear down for permanent closing. She then went to work in the office of Hasco Industries, Louisiana Gear and later known as Burney Gear until 1992. At that time she went to work for Precision Gear & Machine Inc. until retiring in 2008.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy V. Goosey and Phoebia E. Goosey of Keokuk, IA and her husband of 35 years, John R. (Jack) Easter of Shreveport, LA. She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie D. Webb of Metairie, LA and Julie S. Glasgow of Shreveport, LA and a grandson, Nicolas Ryan Webb of Alexandria, LA.
She always had a strong work ethic and believed everybody who was able should work and be active as long as physically able, which she practiced by being employed away from the home until the age of 76.
She was an avid reader, collector of Jazz music, and lover of her Australian Shepherd Dogs, Chloe and Blue.
The family would like to thank the entire stroke unit staff, ICU staff, Stepdown unit at Willis Knighton Pierremont. Thanks to Dr. Little, Dr. Reynolds and her favorite all time friend and Doctor, Dr. Robert Hernandez. Her special friend, who always had her back, Beth Springer, R.N..
