Bernice McGee Warren, fondly known as Granny, went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2022 at the age of 89. She was born on March 2, 1933 in Ashland, LA to Dewey McGee and Dessa Farley McGee. She is survived by her daughter Debra Haywood; her son Daniel C. Warren, Jr. and wife, Letha; her son Kevin Warren and wife, Jean; her grandchildren Jeff Warren and wife, Annie; Brian Warren and wife, Kerri; Katy Thomas and husband, Joe; Keri Norris and husband, Chase; Crystal Vosbury and husband, Damon; Tonya Coffman and husband, Tony; as well as 21 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel C. Warren; her parents, Dewey and Dessa McGee; her brothers, Wayne McGee and Lane McGee; and her sisters, Bernell Kelley and Carol Vandiver.
Bernice loved her family and spent her years caring for those who were around her. Her love of family gatherings was evidenced by yearly Thanksgiving "Pie" and the famous "Twas the Night Before Christmas" reading and gift exchange. If you came to visit, you could always rely upon a few things from Bernice and D.C. There would always be a jar of peanut butter crackers, cold drinks in the fridge, and plenty of stories about years gone by. She was a lover of art and was quite an artist herself, and she also had a passion for the sport of basketball. Most importantly, Bernice was a follower of Christ. If you were to take one look into her Bible, you would see handwritten notes from sermons and messages that made an impact on her life and influenced the way she loved others.
A celebration of Bernice's life, officiated by Jeff Warren, will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Christian Center located at 205 Idema, Shreveport, LA 71106. Visitation with the family will take place at 9:00 a.m. just before the service. Bernice's grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends will gather following the celebration at Christian Center. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Heritage Manor Stratmore and Lifepath Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dream Hunt Foundation at 315 Deer Crossing Stonewall, la 71078.
