Billie Oglesby Ketcham

Shreveport, LA - Services will be conducted at Centuries Funeral Home Chapel for Billie Oglesby Ketcham, age 89, of Shreveport, LA on Saturday, February 8, 2014. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until service time at 2:00pm.Officiating will be Rev. Harry Forrester of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Billie's church home for over 30 years. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park.Mrs. Ketcham entered into rest on February 6, 2014 at Heritage Stratmore nursing facility after a lengthy illness. She was born in Norphlet, Arkansas and lived in Shreveport since 1946. Mrs. Ketcham was a retired registered nurse who practiced in Shreveport for over 30 years first in the hospital environment, then as a nursing instructor for 30 years and then as a home healthcare nurse for the balance of her career ending in 2004 when her driver and husband of 58 years passed away. She was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She enjoyed nursing, church work and travel; particularly to visit her 7 grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband Barney Markel Oglesby in 2004, husband Joe Ketcham in 2009 and previously by her parents Charles Huffman and Rosa Barnett Huffman Burris, and her sister Verne Huffman Whidden.She is survived by her sons Charles M. Oglesby and wife Donna of Houston, Texas, and Lawrence E. Oglesby and wife Mary Kay of Austin, Texas; four granddaughters: Kristeen Kessler, Jade Oglesby, Jordan Oglesby and Jacqueline Oglesby; and three grandsons: Charles Oglesby Jr, Travis Oglesby and Rabun Oglesby; her brother Robert Huffman and sister Elizabeth Powers.
