Born in Natchitoches, Louisiana, Charlie lived a life that truly embodied the heart and soul of a cowboy. From an early age, he developed a deep love for the land, animals, and the rugged independence that comes with being a cowboy. Charlie was a skilled carpenter, but his true passion was livestock trading. Whether it was working with cattle or riding horseback, his cowboy spirit never faded. He lived and breathed the cowboy way, from the worn boots on his feet to the way he told stories. Charlie’s life was shaped by the values of hard work, loyalty, and the freedom of the open range.
A veteran of the Korean War, Charlie’s accomplishments extended far beyond his cowboy ways. He was a co-founder of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where his faith was as strong as his love for the land. His commitment to community and his family was evident in everything he did, but his heart always belonged to the cowboy life. He enjoyed nothing more than a day spent working with livestock, or kicking back and listening to classic country and western music, the soundtrack to his life.
Charlie was a man of stories the kind that only a true cowboy could tell. Whether he was reminiscing about the days on horseback or sharing a joke that would have everyone laughing for hours, his presence lit up any room. He had a way of making everyone around him feel like they were part of something bigger, something wild and free, just like the cowboy spirit he carried with him.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Brenda McDonald (Rex), Charla James (Jon), Jenny McDonald (Brad); and his son, Chuck Davis (Sharon).
