Funeral services for David Edward Olden, 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 15th, 2024 at Rose Park Baptist Church with Dr. B.J. “Rocky” Maddox officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until service time and interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
David was born on January 4th, 1942 in Winnfield, LA and went to be with the Lord on July 2nd, 2024. He grew up in Jena, Louisiana, then attended college at Northwestern State University and SW Mississippi Junior college. During that time, he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country in Vietnam. David then went on to become the manager of the Shreveport Credit Bureau collections department where he worked for 26 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, piddling in the backyard and spending time with family. David also faithfully attended church throughout his lifetime, first as a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 32 years and then Rose Park Baptist Church for the last 10. His friends and family will especially miss his witty sense of humor, big smile, and the twinkle in his blue eyes.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Willie “Buck” Olden and Mildred Olden, and his brother Regginald Olden.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Ann Olden, his daughter Lori Meadows and husband Kevin, his two sons, Michael Olden and wife Tammy, Casey Olden and wife Gentry, his seven grandchildren Miranda, Dakota, Kelsey, Cassidy, Brylee, Judd, and Mae, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers for the ceremony will be Johnny Burnley, Johnny Morgan, Jimmy Pilgram, Mark Pendleton, Ben Thomas, and Gary Thomas.
