Doris Russell Crew Miller passed away at her home in Benton, Louisiana on January 5, 2011 following a long struggle with Dementia. She was born in Derry, Louisiana on May 20, 1925.
Doris is preceded in death by parents Roy Ellis Russell, mother Edna McTyre Russell and stepmother Lila Blankenship Russell, half-sister Jean Russell Osborne, and half-brothers Jimmy Russell and Gerald Wayne Russell.
Doris is survived by her husband of 51 years Wilburn "Buddy" Miller, sons David Russell Miller and wife Lisa, and Robert Gordon Crew and wife Jacque, four grandchildren Ariana and Lauren Miller, Kristin Milligan and husband Barry, and Cory Crew and wife Ashley, four great-grandchildren Connor and Rocky Crew and Madison and Chandler Milligan. She is also survived by step-sister Elmae Bierden and half-sisters Bobbie Lee and husband Burl, and Vera Bayles.
Doris worked as a dental assistant for 38 years and took great pride in being the best she could be. She was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for herself and family.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Thursday January 6, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA.
Services for Doris will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on Friday January 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor John Fream. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Cemetery.
Honoring Doris as pallbearers will be Bobby Miller, Frank Peske, Cory Crew, Barry Milligan, Wayne Solomon, and Richard Roys. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Steven Russell and Burl Dean Lee.
