SHREVEPORT, LA - Dorothy Fay Wilson Goodwin was born October 3, 1926 in Oil City, Louisiana. Her mother was Leola Neal Wilson, widow of Herve' Wilson, Sr., who died in an automobile accident shortly before their daughter's birth. Dorothy passed on June 3, 2014, and went to join her brother, Herve' Jr., who had appointed himself to be her protector earlier in life.
In later years, her mother married Edward Cecil Whisenhunt, a wonderful Christian man, who became a caring father to Dorothy and her brother, and later a proud "Granddad" to Dorothy's children. During her childhood, one of her joys in life was her family's involvement with their small country church, where she came to love and worship the Lord. She was a member of Summer Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her sons, Randy and Ray.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband James; two sons Richard, and James Herve' and his wife Diane; daughter-in-law, Wanda Jean (wife of Randy); grandchildren, Hunter, Alison, Tanner, and Taylor; great grandchildren, Braden and Parker.
Heartfelt thanks to the W-K Cancer Center staff for your kindness; also to Doctors Charles Byrd, Haun Le, Lane Rosen and Russell Fileccia. Special thanks to Dr. Charles Hargon for his concern and care, and to all the staff at W-K Hospice "A Big Thank-You-All".
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, with a brief service to follow.
