Gary Wayne Mitchell

STONEWALL, LA – Services to honor the life of Gary Wayne Mitchell, 46, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Steve Hill. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gary was born on October 8, 1970, and passed away on April 30, 2017. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was ranked as Sergeant First Class when he retired. Gary spent the past five years teaching JROTC at Green Oaks High School, which he enjoyed very much. He loved his students and they loved him. He was a genuine servant, helping anyone in need. Gary loved his wife, children, grandchild, brothers, sister, and extended family. He was the picture of a true family man, and his pride and joy was his one and only grandson, Robert. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, George William Mitchell and Audrey Upshaw Mitchell Jones; his paternal grandparents, Lewis and Phyllis Mitchell; and maternal grandparents, Ira and Pearlie Upshaw. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Tiffani Mitchell; sons, Brandon and Cody Mitchell; daughter, Kristen Mitchell; sister, Terry Mitchell Hester and husband Keith, daughter Mandy Hester; brothers, Mark Mitchell and wife Tracie, son Tyler and wife Cayla, daughter Mackenzie; and Brian Mitchell and wife Carlee, son William; grandson, Robert Mitchell; step-mother, Joyce Mitchell; very dear friends, Jason and Kay Wray; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Pallbearers will be Brandon, Cody, Mark, and Brian Mitchell, Keith Hester and Jason Wray. Honorary pallbearers are SFC Mack A. Moore and Lt. Col. Marvin W. Anderson.
