Gene Raymond Alleman, 78, was called home to be with the Lord, passing peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, November 10, 2021 after a long illness accelerated by the Covid virus. Family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Open Range Fellowship in Greenwood, LA followed by a procession and burial at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Aaron.
Gene was born on August 7, 1943 in Bossier City, LA, the youngest child of Edwin “Dean” Alleman, Sr. and Emma Leblanc Alleman. In 1963, he graduated from Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, LA where he had been a standout football player. His love of football was rivaled by his love of motorsports. If it had an engine, he was hypnotized. This affection for motors led him to work in sales and as a drag racer for Red River Chevrolet and later was Sales Manager at Rountree Olds Cadillac. Being a hard-worker all his life, it was no surprise that his determination and passion combined when he opened a motorcycle dealership, Gene Alleman Kawasaki, in 1984. He later expanded to include Suzuki and Yamaha. Gene loved his work and his customers. He retired from Alleman CyclePlex in 2016.
Gene’s passion for motorcycles and motorsports was only surpassed by his steadfast love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. They were the loves of his life. Gene was always proud to take his wife, Lorra, out dancing or to dinner or on motorcycle rides through Arkansas. He got unimaginable joy from sitting and having his morning coffee and a visit with his daughter Carey and watching races and games with his son Mark. His grandchildren will always remember time playing outside in the backyard with Pappy as he swung them on the tire swing, showed them how to garden, and usually gave them some kind of sweet snack.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin “Dean” Alleman, Sr. and Emma Leblanc Alleman and his sister and brothers, Tina Alleman Tedder, Edwin Alleman, Jr., and Donald Alleman. He is survived by his family who he treasured: wife, Lorra Judd Alleman; daughter, Carey Alleman Beene and her husband, Cary; son, Mark Alleman and his wife, Robyn; stepdaughter, Stephanie Lott and her husband, Bennett Upton; stepdaughter, Meredith Scott and her husband Charles Rex Scott, III; grandchildren Carson Beene, Parker Alleman, Taylor Alleman, Joshua Scott, Noah Scott, Eli Scott, Jonathan Scott, and Andrew Scott; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Carson Beene, Parker Alleman, Joshua Scott, Jason Whittlesy, Lyle Parratt, and Walt Tedder. Honorary pallbearers are James Hope, James Adams, Robert Barron, Frank Shaffer, Douglas Burnside, and Brad Bell.
Gene Raymond Alleman will be remembered as many things- husband, father, grandfather, friend, salesman, business owner, motorcycle rider- but in all of those things he will be remembered most as a man who sought to love others the way the Lord loved him. He never met a stranger, and he put others’ needs above his own. Gene is and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and being loved by him.
Flowers may be sent to Centuries Memorial Funeral Home and Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71108.
