SHREVEPORT, LA – A memorial service celebrating the life of Geneva Ellis Gilmore, 88, will be held on Friday, February 12 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Gilley. Mrs. Gilmore was called home by Jesus on Sunday, February 7, 2016 after a short illness.
Geneva was born on January 25, 1928 near Hughes, AR and was a resident of Shreveport, LA most of her life. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Shreveport for 59 years. Her passion was teaching young children, and she fulfilled this calling as a preschool teacher at Calvary Baptist Academy for 41 years. She leaves a rich legacy of several generations of students scattered across the United States.
Geneva Gilmore was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Minnie Ellis, her brothers Shine Ellis and R.V. Ellis, her sister Marie Griggs, and her husband, Don Gilmore. She is survived by two sisters, Lee Eunice Bond and Louise Morton, her daughters Debbie Flowers and husband Steve and Lydia Gilmore and husband Rob Sport, and her granddaughter, Alyssa Flowers.
