Imogene received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Northwestern State University in 1977 and a Masters of Science in Nursing in 1995. She was the chief nurse at the VA Medical Center and enjoyed caring for those who served our country. Imogene served as chair and member of many committees while there. She earned dozens of honors and service awards throughout her nursing career including being recognized as Nurse of the year in 1993 at the Shreveport District Nurses Association. Imogene functioned as administrative preceptor for students in baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs.
Imogene enjoyed walking in the park, traveling, spending time outside and fishing. She was fond of all animals, big and small. She adored her lunch dates with coworkers, who became her close friends and getting to know her patients and serving their needs. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Imogene spent her life serving others. She was selfless, humble, caring and loving. Anyone who knew her would tell you she was an angel while on Earth and now she is an angel in Heaven.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Wendy Rachel Thompson and partner, Stephanie; mother who has since passed on February 1, 2022, Marlene Wilson Ford; brother, Michael Ford and wife Donna; sisters, Vivian Skains and husband, Randy, Theresa Mesecher and Deb Ford; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Harlon Thompson; her sons, Chad Christopher Thompson and Sean Patrick Thompson; father, Jimmy Dale Ford; brothers, Mitchell Ford and Jimmy Ford and her sister, Becky Ford.
A visitation for Imogene will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Bro. Buck Furlow.
