James Dennis “JD” Malmay passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday afternoon, February 6. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was a loving husband of 59 years and was blessed with a large and loving family. JD was a man of honor who lived a life of service to his family, community, and country. He served as a United States Marine, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and a lifetime member of the Choctaw Apache Tribe.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Malmay; his three children, Sherri Moss and her husband Perry Moss, Stacy Lurate, and Donna Feliciano; his seven grandchildren, Sydney Moss, Bianca Lurate (Dallas, TX), Mallory Lurate (Pensacola, FL), Lindsay Lurate (Gainesville, FL), Cade Feliciano, Morgan Feliciano, and Isabella Feliciano; and his seven siblings, Ray Malmay(Rocky Mount, LA),Pat Malmay(Parker, CO), Thomas Malmay(LaPine, OR), Michael Malmay(Shreveport, LA), Gary Malmay(Greenwood, LA), Ann Cooper(Zwolle, LA) and Linda Delaney (Frisco, TX). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, Jessie James Malmay and Victoria Malmay, and by his brother Don Malmay.
To the family, friends, and others whose lives JD has touched, a visitation will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. James will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Fr. John Paul Crispin. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.
