Mr. Joel Ambrose Burgett

Shreveport, LA

Services celebrating the life of Joel Ambrose Burgett, 84, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be ministers Darwin Hunter of Sunset Church of Christ and Ray Hunter. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Wednesday, March 30, 2011.

Joel was born on February 25, 1927 in Alba, TX to George and Mattie Burgett. He was an electronics technician and worked for Rocky Flats Nuclear Plant in Golden, Colorado until his retirement in 1992. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Joel was most recently a member of the Sunset Church of Christ in Shreveport, LA. Mr. Burgett loved the Lord and was a longtime faithful member of the Church of Christ. He served in various capacities in the church such as an Elder, part time preacher and Bible teacher.

Preceding Mr. Burgett in death were his parents; one son, Joel David Burgett; four brothers and one sister.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Joel is his wife of 64 years, Joyce Burgett; one daughter, Melinda Hunter and Husband Darwin of Shreveport, LA; two sisters, Cozette Robins and husband Burle of Katy, TX and Louise Smith of Desoto, TX; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
