Services celebrating the life of Joseph Carol Guillory, 72, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Msgr. Earl Provenza of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Mr. Guillory was born on November 3, 1938 in Ville Platte, LA and passed away on June 9, 2011 in Shreveport, LA. Joseph was a licensed barber for 53 years and owned and operated Southern Hills Barber Shop for 35 years. Mr. Guillory was an avid historian and genealogist. He enjoyed genealogy, history and anything that had significance and loved educating others with his vast knowledge of these subjects. Mr. Guillory served many generations of families at his barber shop. He loved people and never met a stranger. Mr. Guillory served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. Joseph was a devoted, dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather.

Preceding Mr. Guillory in death were his parents, his wife’s parents and one granddaughter, Crystal Baker.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Joseph are his wife, Diane Loyd Guillory of Shreveport, LA; daughters, Christy Baker of Shreveport, LA, Jennifer Ypya and husband Barry of Shreveport, LA and Julie Copes and husband Ronnie of Mooringsport, LA; brothers, John Melvin Guillory of Pine Prairie, LA and Charles Roland Guillory of Pine Prairie, LA; grandchildren, Amanda Baker-Anderson, Brittany Baker, Joseph Baker, Joshua Ypya, Lindsey Larey and husband Justin, Eli Ypya, Caleb Ypya, Cody Copes and Emily Copes; one great grandson, Jaxon Larey. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Honoring Mr. Guillory as pallbearers will be: Barry Ypya, Joshua Ypya, Ronnie Copes, Cody Copes, Joseph Baker and Justin Larey. Honorary pallbearers will be Eli Ypya and Caleb Ypya.
